Prepositions Anchor Chart

Teaching 2nd graders the concept of prepositions is not easy.  So I have to pull out all the stops to make sure they're grasping prepositions and their phrases.

Today we made this chart:

Then, I made a little fly using a sticky note, making sure the sticky part was behind the head of the fly.

My students came up to the chart and placed the fly somewhere on or near the boy and used a prepositional phrase to describe where they placed the fly.  I wrote the phrase on the chart after they said it.

More preposition fun to come tomorrow!

Computer Desktop Organization

I am soooo in to organizing these days.  And my computer desktop is no exception!  I got a new Macbook earlier this school year and I L.O.V.E. it.  The problem was that I like a clean desktop.  It was really bugging me to have all of these files scattered all over the place.  Since I really needed many Power points and files quickly accessible on my desktop, I had to find a solution.  Enter Pinterest to the rescue!  I saw this great idea there, and set out to figure out how to do it!

The 10 Commandments

If you homeschool or teach at a Christian school you probably teach the 10 commandments.  This is a cute way to help the kids (and you!) memorize all the commandments!  Notice how they hold up their fingers to correspond to the number commandment.
